There has been an ongoing discussion (within our classes) about the meaning of forgiveness and how it relates to abusers/offenders. We’ve all heard statements by Oprah, Eckhart Tolle, Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, and others who give us a small glimpse of what it means to forgive and seem to get us a little closer to enlightenment, but for some reason it’s difficult to define forgiveness in such a way that allows a demand for accountability and responsibility from the abusers. This is what this particular article speaks to.
